同是来自Bristol这个英国西部港口城市，相比较Massive Attack、Portishead、Tricky几个频繁出现在媒体上的Trip-Hop乐队，Crustation 远没有如此风光。但《Bloom》这张唱片对我开始听trip-hop做出过不可磨灭的贡献，感叹下自己当年入门专辑还算选得准。

80年代就和Portishead的吉他手Adrian Utley组过乐队做过演出，并且同Massive Attack 和 Smith & Mighty有过频繁的合作，可以说Crustation在Trip-Hop成为潮流之前早已开始尝试制作缓拍类型的音乐。吉他手Stig Manley，贝司手Mark Taylerhe和DJ Ian Dark，三位男成员组成了最早的Crustation。94、95年在厂牌“Cup Of Tea”下发行了两张EP后，Crustation的曲风逐渐成型，直至女主唱Bronagh Slevin的加入，乐队的完整阵容至此终于形成。值得一提的是Bronagh有着浓郁的爱尔兰民谣式唱腔，在90年代缓拍音乐创作的中期，这种类型的女主唱出现在不算少数的乐队当中。何谓潮流，怕这也算其一吧。

《Bloom》以整张唱片中唯一的一首乐器作品《Hey》作为开场，结合封套的style——昏暗的光线，几把孤零零的椅子——，听者不免顿时会被这幽幽的试探声带入他们营造的氛围中。结尾处那首《Ride on》很受我个人喜爱，干净的吉他配上平缓忧郁的Bronagh的声音，Crustation的气质注定是内敛温和的。

一个关于trip-hop的法国网站上这样评价这张唱片：

Album unique d'un groupe éphémère, Bloom est l'un des joyaux méconnus du trip-hop. 一个昙花般乐队的唯一一张专辑，trip-hop里一颗被埋没的宝石。

《Bloom》带给我一次幽暗的聆听旅程。它永远只适合一个人坐在屋子的角落里，

随着音乐一起沉默。
